What is Personal Information?
Personal information means information about an identifiable individual. Personal information does not include business contact information (such as an individual’s name, title, business address, telephone, email address, and fax number) when such information is collected, used or disclosed for the purpose of business communications.
What Personal Information do we Collect?
We collect and maintain different types of personal information about our customers, which will include at least the following:
- Name;
- Drivers License number and Province/State or Country of Issuance;
- Expiry date of your Drivers License;
- Home and or Business Address;
- Date of Birth;
- Telephone Number(s) at which we may contact you;
- Credit Card Number and Expiration Date;
Why Do We Collect, Use, and Disclose Personal Information?
We collect, use and disclose personal information to enable us to manage and develop our business and operations which include to:
- Establish and maintain relations with you so that we may provide you with the products and services that have been requested;
- Enable us to comply with applicable law or regulatory requirements ( for example to ensure that you meet the legal requirements to drive the vehicle which you are renting) ;
- Enable us to receive payment for the amount due within the terms of our Rental Agreement;
- Protect us against error, fraud, theft and damage to our goods and property;
- Be able to inform you of our products and services other than those that you have specifically requested, including sending you information promoting other products and services that you may not be aware we provide;
- Meet any other reasonable purpose to which you consent or request.
Who may we Disclose your Personal Information to?
We may disclose your personal information to other related and non related organizations including:
- To your company or organization if you use our services under a corporate or other commercial account;
- To your credit card issuer;
- To debt collection agencies, if you fail to pay monies owed to us;
- To credit reporting and fraud checking agencies;
- To government or private organizations responsible for the processing or handling of traffic or parking related offences;
- To government, regulatory and law enforcement agencies where disclosure is required or authorized by law;
- To insurance companies
How is your Personal Information Protected?
We endeavor to maintain physical, technical and procedural safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity of the personal information in question. These safeguards are designed to prevent your personal information from loss and unauthorized access, copying, use, modification or disclosure while in our possession.
We recognize that the personal information we are endeavoring to safeguard is also included on your customer copy of rental agreement which is in your care and control. While efforts are taken to inform you of your responsibilities we cannot be held responsible for information that you have discarded improperly or left in our vehicles.
